Throughout the season, the Lower Merion Girls Volleyball program hosts a variety of special events that bring our athletes, families, alumni, and community together.
This page serves as a chronological guide to the program's special events and traditions throughout the year. From preseason activities and fundraising events to community service initiatives, Senior Night, Dig Pink, and the End-of-Season Banquet, each event plays an important role in strengthening our volleyball community!
Join us as we officially kick off the 2026 season. All players, families, coaches, and Booster Club members are invited to attend.
This annual event gives players and families from all three teams an opportunity to meet, reconnect after the summer, and build the sense of community that makes our program special. The Booster Club will provide pizza and drinks. Families are encouraged, but not required, to bring a side dish, dessert, or snack to share.
The picnic will also serve as the primary collection event for our annual Stock the Snack Bar Donation Drive. Families who signed up to donate snacks, drinks, or concession supplies are encouraged to bring their items to the picnic.
We hope all families can join us as we celebrate the start of the 2026 season and welcome our newest players and families to the Lower Merion Volleyball community.
Thank you for supporting Lower Merion Girls Volleyball and helping us start the season strong!
The LMGVB Preseason Invitational marks the start of the 2026 season at Lower Merion High School. The event brings together JV and Varsity teams from Lower Merion, Avon Grove, Haverford, Conestoga, Harriton, and Academy at Palumbo for a morning of preseason competition.
The tournament is one of the Booster Club's first major events of the year. Throughout the day, the Booster Club operates the snack bar, which serves as an important fundraiser for the volleyball program. Proceeds help support team activities, player recognition, Senior Night, banquet expenses, and other program needs throughout the season.
Parent Volunteers are needed to help staff the snack bar during the tournament. Volunteer opportunities include setup, food and beverage sales, and cleanup.
Media Day is an annual Lower Merion Girls Volleyball tradition and provides players with professional photos for personal use throughout the season. This year's photographer is Alexa Richards (@abr.photos). All teams will participate in team photos, individual portraits, and fun group shots. Adult Volunteers are needed throughout Media Day to help keep the schedule running smoothly. Volunteers will assist with player check-in, organizing teams, lining players up for photos, helping position athletes and props, directing players between stations, and ensuring groups are ready when it is their turn.

The All-Team Car Wash is the Lower Merion Girls Volleyball Booster Club's largest fundraiser of the season and one of the program's longest-standing traditions. Each year, players from all three teams come together to raise funds that support the volleyball program throughout the season.
Players are assigned to one of two shifts, and adult volunteers are needed throughout the day to assist with event operations, including check-in, donation collection, traffic flow, refreshments, setup, and cleanup.
The Lower Merion Girls Volleyball Program is proud to host its annual Dig Pink Night on September 22, 2026. This special event brings together players, families, alumni, and community members in support of the fight against breast cancer and in honor of those whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
All members of the Lower Merion community are encouraged to attend, wear pink, and help support this meaningful tradition. Additional details regarding fundraising activities, commemorative items, and ways to honor loved ones will be shared as the event approaches.
The Lower Merion Girls Volleyball Program is excited to host Middle School Appreciation Night on September 28, 2026.
This special event celebrates the middle school athletes who represent the future of Lower Merion Volleyball. Middle school players and their families are invited to attend the match, cheer on the Aces, and experience the excitement of high school volleyball!
The Lower Merion Girls Volleyball Program will host its first annual Dig for Diabetes Fundraiser on September 28, 2026. The event is designed to raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and generate charitable donations for Breakthrough T1D, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research, advocacy, and support programs for individuals and families affected by T1D.
As part of the fundraiser, supporters will have the opportunity to participate in a Pledge Per Dig Challenge, making a donation based on the number of digs recorded by the Lower Merion and Springfield volleyball teams during the match.
The evening will also serve as Middle School Appreciation Night, providing local middle school athletes and their families with an opportunity to attend a varsity volleyball match, learn more about the Lower Merion volleyball program, and connect with current players and families.
On October 8, 2026 the Lower Merion and Haverford High School Girls Volleyball programs will join together for a special Morgan’s Message Awareness Fundraiser at Haverford High School that is dedicated to supporting student-athlete mental health and continuing the important conversation surrounding mental wellness in athletics.
This collaborative event will bring together athletes, families, students, and community members from both schools to raise awareness, show support, and honor the mission of eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community.
The organization was founded in memory of Morgan Rodgers, a Duke University lacrosse player whose story has inspired a nationwide movement advocating for mental health awareness among student-athletes. Today, Morgan’s Message supports hundreds of high school and collegiate campuses through peer-to-peer education, advocacy, and community outreach programs.
Senior Night is one of the most meaningful traditions of the volleyball season as we celebrate and recognize the members of the Class of 2027 for their dedication, leadership, and contributions to the Lower Merion Girls Volleyball Program.
The evening provides an opportunity for teammates, coaches, families, alumni, and community members to honor our seniors and reflect on the impact they have made both on and off the court. Prior to the match, each senior will be recognized alongside their family during a special ceremony highlighting their accomplishments, involvement in the program, and future plans. We invite all members of the Lower Merion community to join us on October 12 as we honor our seniors and thank them for their contributions to the program.
The Lower Merion Girls Volleyball End-of-Season Banquet is one of the highlights of the year and an opportunity for players, coaches, and families to come together and celebrate the 2026 season. The banquet will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at The Cynwyd Club, located at 332 Trevor Lane, Bala Cynwyd, PA.

My name is Irit Grader and I am delighted to facilitate a performance psychology workshop for the LMVB teams. I am Noa Okutsu's mother (she is currently playing in the JV team) and I teach and practice veterinary medicine at PennVet Primary Care Service. In addition to working as a veterinarian, I am an amateur competitive ballroom dancer, and I also graduated last month from UPenn's master of applied positive psychology program.
In the workshop I plan to introduce the field of performance psychology and discuss why it is important for competing athletes. I also plan on reviewing what is our individual zone of optimal function and how it can be affected by stress. I will briefly introduce the autonomic nervous system and go over the physiologic basis of our stress response, and finally go over ways which help us modulate our stress response (in particular mindful breathing). The ultimate goals of the workshop are to help the members of the team develop better awareness of their emotional and mental state and introduce some emotional regulation tools.
During the workshop the girls will write and reflect on their athletics experiences, share ideas and concepts in small groups, and practice mindful breathing.
The Lower Merion Girls Volleyball Program is proud to host the annual Junior Varsity Volleyball Tournament on a date in October TBD.
This tournament gives JV athletes the opportunity to compete against teams from across the region and celebrate the hard work, growth, and teamwork they have demonstrated throughout the season. It is one of the highlights of the JV season and provides players with valuable competitive experience in a fun and supportive environment.
Families, friends, and community members are encouraged to attend and cheer on the athletes as they represent their schools and conclude their season with a day of exciting volleyball and sportsmanship.
Additional information, including participating teams, schedules, and volunteer opportunities, will be shared as the event approaches.
